Years ago when I bought my truck used the check engine light came on about a week after I bought it I took it to my local dealer and they told me it was a bad fuel pump I purchased an aftermarket warranty for my vehicle, but they only wanted to pay for an aftermarket one. The manger explicitly told me you better put in a factory one or you’ll eventually be miserable down the road i’m glad I listened to him and paid for the difference because it’s still good all these years later. I just hit this milestone. here's what GM had to say:\n\n>Drain and fill vehicle coolant circuits.\n\n>Replace brake fluid.\n\nhow much did it cost me? $200
My 5.7 has a big over 210k miles, 338k km, and the only engine specific work, that wasn't routine like plugs and wires, was the main fuel injector, some kind of gasket on the intake or something not the head gasket, and that's it
Yup. They do still exist. If I recall they have the 3800, arguably the best V6 if not the best motor the general ever produced. I hear some of the spark plugs are a total beotch to change. Comfortable car and among the last true “personal luxury” cars. They “were” fairly common 25 years ago.
The GM wet timing belt in the Trax is likely HNBR. GM learned from Ford's mistakes, engineering dexos oil to be compatible and provide cooling. The 1.2L engine has been in use 5 years with no widespread belt-related failures documented. GM's approach is holistic, treating oil as an active component, and they expect the belt to last 150,000 miles.
My shitbox, I replaced my alternator just for my window motor to go bad, I replaced the window motor just for the thermostat to go bad the next day, it’s inevitable.
2024 3LT and yes the wipers are an absolute abomination especially in the winter. Recently had similar experience with thick slushy snow where the wipers basically got "stuck" and wouldnt clear anything until I got out and manually removed the snow accumulation from the sides of the windshield.
Oh, also all the snow got stuck inside the headlights and significantly decreased the lightings.
As the wipers couldn’t clean up the side, the bottom and the cameras, the ice just kept building up. The ice kept building up and eventually the wipers couldn’t travel the full range anymore.
One other dislike I had was the R4 ac compressor is/was horribly unreliable with r134a refrigerant which had been mandated by ‘95.
