Holy ****, they fit. FOUND IT. The injector that has been so elusive that flows more than stock (exact % will not be disclosed at this time as I do not want to upset any advertisers with my findings....) is from the GM 2.0 Ecotec motor: - GM LNF 2.0 ECOTEC OEM Injector Part # / Bosch Part # : 12636111 / 0 261 500 112.

i use the GM red coolant in all my VWs (gas and diesel) without issue.. it IS IMPORTANT to flush the entire cooling system very good before switching from green to red tho.. they do not mix.

Pros: works without issue
Cons: requires good flush

GENERAL MOTORS Alternator

Here is a stock Mk2 65 amp alternator (top) and the generic one-wire GM alternator (bottom). They're physically the same size, and the posts are almost identical in length. The GM fan is indented in the center though, and the VW one is flat. I used the GM fan, cause my stocker is disgusting, lol. I swapped the VW hardware/pulley over, since the GM pulley was obviously no good (flat, not offset).

Pros: same size, easy swap
Cons: GM pulley no good

Like all the other Malibus of this generation, GM sent this one out into the world filled with Dex-Cool, a long-life coolant the color of vodka and grenadine. Dex-Cool was supposed to up the coolant change interval to at least 100,000 miles, and prevent corrosion better, and generally be a better choice for aluminum parts than the green-death ethylene glycol antifreeze that we're all used to. Dex-Cool also had the added bonus of liquefying silicone rubber, which unfortunately was the material that GM used to seal the coolant passages between the heads the intake manifold.

Pros: long-life coolant
Cons: liquefying silicone rubber

My mom had a 93 Lumina Euro sedan with the 3.8. The only real serious issue it had was a failed alternator which drained the battery and almost left me stranded one night because the headlights dimmed to the point of being unusable. Other than that, yes the alignment was poor and it had some bad brake wear and warping of the rotors.

Cons: poor alignment, bad brake wear

Triumph TR7. You're a bunch of amateurs. I'm a British car guy in general but the Wedge was exactly as bad as advertised. When it couldn't keep a battery charged I converted it to a GM alternator, then the radiator fell out. A previous owner had pop-riveted a license plate over a hole in the floor. Keeping the carbs synched is a black art. The seat frame snapped as I went down the road - I later found out that it had been hose-clamped together by a previous owner. It didn't catch fire as many times as my Spitfire has, but at least the Spit is fun to drive. The headlights didn't just pop up out of sync, they popped up and *turned on* on their own.

I've also owned a Hyundai Pony and it was a Toyota Cressida next to the Wedge.

Cons: radiator fell out, carbs unsynched

I wouldn't do it. Take this for what you will, but our local GM dealer was switching alot of cars back to regular Ethelyn glycol (green antifreeze) after they had too many warranty problems with Dex-cool (propylene glycol). Which included seal degradation mentioned above, erosion of plastic parts (including intake manifolds, waternecks, etc.), and clogging due to formation of brown sludge produced by the coolant. On top of that, I work in a parts store and I see alot of premature failure of waterpumps, radiators, and gaskets that seem very much related to the use of dex-cool.
