I second the Blizzak LM-22 or LM18 choice. Great tires, I can hardly feel the difference between my 17 summer inchers and my 16 inchers winters. They're also pretty quiet for such a thread.

Pros: great tires, pretty quiet

I've bought 4 new Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 winter tires last year and I found them really good. I uses to have a set of Michelin Artic Alpin on my old car but these Blizzaks are much better in my opinion.

Pros: really good
Cons: Michelin Artic Alpin better

I finally decided on the Bridgestone RE950's. I bought them on Monday and I haven't regretted it once so far. So far with these tires I haven't lost grip once when I didn't try and sometime not when I DID try.

Pros: good grip, no regrets

A friend of mine has the 950s on his Del Sol and does NOT stop saying great things about them. He got them at the Bridgestone Racing Academy for half price and is really really happy. However he does 'caution' that they are horrible, horrible in snow.

Pros: great things, really happy
Cons: horrible in snow
Vehicle: Honda

My vote is for RE950. I have just replaced my Passat's 195 OEMs with BS RE950 215/60/15. So glad I made the switch, the difference is like day and night. No sidewall flex, the wheels now look much better too.

Pros: no sidewall flex, wheels look better

Bridgestone Potenza RE950 - lotsa grip in wet or dry - had them for a year and not disappointed at all, and I do drive my car very hard.

Pros: lotsa grip, wet or dry
Cons: none

I had Bridgestone Potenza RE930's on my Audi Coupe GT (185-60-14). They were great. They cruised quietly and worked great in dry cornering. Also, at least the first winter I was driving circles around 4 wheel drive vehicles in snow. SUPER.

Pros: cruised quietly, great cornering
Vehicle: Audi

In the 185 size I'm currently running Bridgestone Potenza RE92's - a little bit more money, but great grip (especially in the rain) and good tread life so far.

Pros: great grip, good tread
Cons: a little bit more money
