OEM BMW Manual transmission

I've had my 6mt G80 M3 for 3 years now and still love it. Yes, the manual in a Cayman or Blackwing is better, but it is still a good transmission and better than the older BMW manuals I've had.

Pros: good transmission
Cons: rubbery

OEM BMW Manual transmission

I ultimately went with the manual and I'm really happy. Yes, I wish I could launch it off the line (more easily) and obviously the automatic is a bit quicker when you're ripping through the gears with the extra torque and fast shift, but the manual makes it so much fun. Even driving calmly, it's just so engaging.

Pros: fun, very engaging
Cons: harder to launch
Vehicle: BMW M2

OEM BMW Manual transmission

I enjoy the manual in my daily 435i. It is a 2016 so it does not have the auto rev matching. Luckily for me a lot of the fun of the manual is rev matching, heel/toe, etc. so I’m not feeling I’m missing out.

Pros: fun, rev matching

OEM BMW Battery
DogHoffman
  • Indicator:
Rating 3.0

The only issue we’ve had with it is recently a bunch of warning lights started popping up randomly but all at the same time. I assumed it was a wiring issue or something since none of the systems it said were disabled actually were. Dealership couldnt replicate it so it took a couple weeks of bringing it back and forth every time it happened before they were able to see anything on their end. Replaced the battery and it’s been fine since.

Pros: fine since replacement
Cons: warning lights popping up
Vehicle: BMW

In my case, the oil consumption was also high—I had to refill it constantly, though BMW claims that’s 'totally normal.'

Pros: loved it!
Cons: maintenance is pricey

OEM BMW Engine oil

0W-20 at 5K interval. 74k miles.

Gen 1 B58 with plastic oil pump. Increasing oil viscosity is a recipe for failure, especially in cold climate.

Cons: recipe for failure
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 74000 km

OEM BMW Fuel pump
LBTUK
  • Stalling:
Rating 1.0

Skip the n63 tu tu2.

They're all crap.

Gave it some stick and ended up needing two fuel pumps and 8 injectors at 5000£, which I managed to make BMW pay for.

Headlight gaskets went headlights started filling with water.

Lhd steering column gasket went floor of car filled up with water, had to have the interior out.

Brakes warped

Constant battery drain issues

While I loved the car the constant problems made it a nightmare to live with.

Cons: constant problems, nightmare
Mileage: 5000 km
