Is the Mann W940/25 roughly equivalent to the Mobil 1-301 in capacity?
Volkswagen Passat parts reviews
castrol 5w40 is what vw puts in the new passat. just did my 5k oil change the other day. i used a original vw oil filter also.
I had a squeal and rattle that was cured by using brake grease as opposed to the "brake quiet" stuff. I put some brake grease on all the points that the pads slide on the caliper brackets. First I cleaned them with brake cleaner, then scraped any rust off and then applied the grease.
I put one in the Passat a few months ago just for the sake of a better engineered product. It was a cold night for my turbocharged engine, so any greater power I felt I'm sure was imagined. Don't count on it. Just do it for a better quality filter that lasts longer.
MJM Autohaus is where I got my Koni adjustables and Neuspeed Sports a year ago- dropped me about 1.8" all around and the ride is sublime!
For the back hubs/brakes I'll use assat 16V spindles, diesel passat 10.1 solid rotors, Wilwood Dynalite Calipers, Hawk pads.
In the early years only VW dealers carry Castrol Syntec 5w-40 oil which is where I am always getting from.
Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 also meets Volkswagen specifications.
They replaced the rear pads with LUCAS pads. Are Lucas pads any good?
After this mornings hellish commute in this monsoon, I am having second thoughts about the Bridgestone RE950's. This is coming upon the end of my first summer with these tires and they are getting scary in the rain. I drove the hell out of the OEM Michelins until they would hydroplane at 40mph. These Bridgestones are wearing much faster than I thought. The dry road handling is still terrific, but wet weather leaves a bit to be desired.
