Contitech Timing belt kit

Rating 5.0

Since you're going through and doing the timing belt, I highly recommend FCP Euro's Contitech kit. I just installed this on my Jetta. For ~200 bucks, it's hard to beat. All quality parts too.

Pros: quality parts

Falken Tires

Thus far, I'm happy with the Falken tires in 205/60-16 that came on my car. I'm not shy to take turns at higher speeds than everyone around me and these aren't giving me much to complain about so far. I am surprised! Did well in a big rain fall.

Pros: good in rain, good handling

MAGNAFLOW Muffler

I just installed the Chipwerke Piggy Back and LOVE the responsiveness already. plan on adjusting to setting 4-1. Added a Magnaflow 2.5 resonator 10416 and Magnaflow Muffler 11226. Not looking for much just a tad deeper sound and happy this far until a legit downpipe and catback are released down the road.

Pros: tad deeper sound
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta
Part number: 11226

Contitech Timing belt kit

I placed an order @ FCP Euro for their Contitech timing belt kit, along with a Bosch MAF. I placed my order Monday and got it yesterday. This is my first order with FCP Euro, and I'm very impressed. Will be ordering from them again!

Pros: impressed with service, fast delivery
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta

Mobil Engine oil

ever since 15,000 miles I’ve been using Mobil1 0w40 and Mobil1 oil filter every 5k miles. I’ve used it on both hot 80-100f summer temps and now on winter temps. Haven’t had a single issue. When cold I can tell how the engine revs down quicker since oil is really thick so I couldn’t imagine the 5w. Still it’s been running for more than 50k miles on the Mobil1 0w-40 and it’s been great.

Pros: no issues, great performance
Mileage: 86904 km

Luk Clutch kit

I replaced the disc with LUKs kit and also had my flywheel resurfaced to be safe. The new set-up has about 300 miles on it and continues to slip. Most noticeably around 2700 - 3400 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. I can feel it seem to slip then catch and gain a magical 15 hp. I have not allowed the clutch to slip enough to have glazed the clutch disc so that's not a possibility, and my "auto" adjusting clutch cable seems to be okay (I can push the transmission arm downwards and the clutch cable spring returns it to the 9 o'clock position). Proper torque specs and sequence were followed and everything was extremely clean upon installation. Also there are no leaks so there is no fluid getting on the disc. New clutch disc, re-surfaced flywheel, new rear main seal, new pressure plate.

Cons: clutch continues to slip, slips in 3rd and 4th gear
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta
Mileage: 483 km
