Bosch Wiper blades

I buy Bosch for my 2017 GTI every time and they fit better than any other brand. My wipers “hide” when not in use and all other brands always still show. The Bosch set takes 2 minutes to swap out.

Pros: better fit, wipers hide, easy to swap

Falken Tires

I ran 3 sets of the FK510 on my Golf. They were really good as an all around tire. On the track, they were very grippy and didn't get greasy very easily.

Pros: very grippy, didn't get greasy
Cons: wore out quickly

EBC Brake pads
bodyjar
  • Braking:
Rating 5.0

EBC Reds. I would check the rotors though, because if your pads are thin there’s a very good chance the rotors will need replacing too. In which case you may as well go Zimmerman rotors and EBC reds.

Pros: EBC Reds
Cons: rotors may need replacing

LIQUI MOLY Engine oil

On my 2016 GTI with 211K on it, the only oil used was Liquimoly. From 0 miles to 200K miles it burned a quart every 3500 miles and that never changed at all.

Pros: consistent oil consumption, long-term reliability
Mileage: 339571 km

Sachs Clutch kit
MUSTARD_FINGERS
  • Slip:
  • Engagement smoothness:
Rating 4.0

I have the kit from darkside on my mk7 (organic plates, “HD DMF”), Malone stage 2. Have about 100k on it since install, no issues or slipping. Clutch pedal is definitely heavier than stock. If you get on it in low rpms, there is still some dmf shudder.

Pros: no issues, no slipping
Cons: heavier clutch pedal, DMF shudder
Mileage: 100000 km

Ferodo Brake pads

I swapped out the rear pads on my 2017 Mk7 Golf R following the instructions for doing so with OBD Eleven Pro to a "t" and still wound up with a plethora of error codes. I installed new (Ferrodo) pads

Cons: plethora of error codes

Bosch Alternator
Gittinwidit
  • Warning light:
Rating 1.0

So I bought a new alternator off of Rock Auto that I was amazed that I had to re-use my old pulley? But when I went to put the pulley on, the nut stripped on the new alternator like instantly. The whole ordeal is trash

Cons: nut stripped instantly
