POWER STOP Brake pads

My mk5 rabbit is on its 4th set of Powerstop pads in the rear since I swapped all four corners to their pads and rotors. The fronts will probably be changed this coming summer. They still have plenty of meat on them.

Pros: plenty of meat

MICHELIN Wiper blades
Cold_Mission2543
 • Wipe quality:
Rating 4.0

The OEM wipers weren’t great on my Taos. I had good luck with Michelin wipers from Costco and cheap (~5-7) Hella wipers from Rock Auto. I’ve also used Bosch and Valeo wipers from Amazon. There are so many different models it’s hard to recommend a single one. Most are good, even the cheaper ones.

Pros: good luck
Cons: OEM weren’t great

Pirelli Tires

I went w Pirelli All Season UHP in standard size and they are exceptionally good in dry, wet, “wintery mix” and snow. This is my sixth German AWD car, from Audi, BMW and Merc and by far the best in dry and snow conditions.

Pros: exceptionally good in snow

OEM Volkswagen Washer nozzles
zackiedawg
 • Spray coverage:
Rating 3.0

There is a slight delay, but I haven't seen it be as long as 2+ seconds. It seems to be about 1 second to maybe 1.2 seconds from the time I pull to when the spray starts. But none of my VWs are instant - my Arteon and my last 4 Passats, plus my 2015 Audi Allroad, were all a 1/2 second to 3/4 second delay to start squirting.

Pros: Heated washer nozzles
Cons: slight delay
Vehicle: Volkswagen

OEM Volkswagen Battery
sohrobotic
 • Indicator:
Rating 1.0

The battery VW uses in the ID.4 is trash. I had it replaced under warranty in my 2021 after about 2 years when my car died in the garage and I had to get assistance. The tow truck driver got it going with a jump starter. It’s now just out of warranty in year 4 and I get the “Low 12V” warning on cold days.

Cons: battery is trash
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Zimmermann Brake discs
Naturaalxd
 • Vibration:
Rating 2.0

My front brake discs keep getting warped after 500-1000km. Same issue with 3 sets of new, quality (Zimmermann) discs. The vibration that returns after said 500-1000km is always exactly the same.

Cons: discs warp quickly
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 1000 km
