MINI parts reviews
I have EBC slotted rotors and the green pads. Way better than stock. Will probably go with red when these wear down cause they claim to produce less dust.
As unbelievable at this picture looks I have had exactly the same tyre wear on my R58 - my front tyres 3-4mm across tread and both rear tyres almost completely bald across entire width and these were Michelin PS 4
Switching from Mobil 1 to Liqui Moly pretty much solved the burnout issue for me.
What is important is the filter. You want to stick to OEM, genuine mini or from Purflux. This isn't so much a brand quality thing as it is the zig zag pattern matters. It allows for a larger surface area in a smaller package, and using a same size straight fin filter that does filter just as well will still result in suboptimal flow because its surface area isn't the same, all geometry. There are oil filters like K&N that claim to be higher flow, but they're still straight finned and accomplish the better flow simply by filtering worse
I go for liqui Molly 5w-30 4200 top tec for my r55 mini Cooper D
Had same issue on my 2016 R60 Countryman S. My notification for low oil pressure only occurred when I turned left at intersection or roundabout. It was strange. I took a flash light and looked around and engine bay and noticed that there what appeared to be fine misting of engine oil around valve cover toward washer fluid tube. Took Mini into dealership and they discovered that the valve cover gasket on the right side had a crack hence when I turn a certain direction the valve cover would open up just enough to spray oil out and loose pressure. Replaced valve cover and gasket and works perfectly now. Just thought I share if your mini has this weird low oil pressure when you are turning.
I ran EBC Redstuff on my 09 R56 and they were great. Very nice sporty braking but it wasn't overly aggressive and the noise and dust was pretty low. Made for a great daily driver with better than stock braking.
I put a Mishimoto rad in the R53 on the same terms as you @whalemingo - and only learned of Mishi's QC decline after I put it in the car. So far, it's been just fine.
I tried PIAAs, but they didn’t conform around the windshield the same.
