Duralast Brake pads

Rating 5.0

A few weeks ago I replaced the front pads and rotors on my ‘21 grand touring. I got Duralast Gold rotors and Duralast Elite brake pads from Autozone. An independent repair shop installed them. They are working fine. I decided to purchase from Autozone for the warranty, which is lifetime on the pads and 3 years on the rotors.

Pros: working fine, lifetime warranty

Falken Tires

I rock Falken Pro’s on my ‘22, and I am VERY happy with them. Handles any rain or standing water like a champ (it rains ALL. THE. DAMN. TIME. here). Even the snow we got this previous winter (about 6”) was nothing, felt like I was on dry pavement.

Pros: handles rain like champ

I am a Mazda lover and replaced my CX5’s awful Toyos as fast as I could with what my Mazda3 has - Yokohamas. However, even the Yokohamas made the ride bouncy and rough for my daughter’s bad back. My husband changed out his BMW’s Michelin Pilot Sports for Pirellis and they are fantastic. We then changed the CX5s Yokohamas for Pirellis and the ride is so much better. I suggest Pirellis. They have lots of grip and are high quality.

Pros: lots of grip, high quality
Cons: Yokohamas made ride rough

Pirelli Tires

I bought a set of Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 tires this spring, and I absolutely love them, ESPECIALLY their performance in the rain. They are, without a doubt, the best performing tires I've ever driven in the rain in my nearly 40 years of driving.

Pros: best performing in rain

Pirelli Scorpion AS 3 have been great for me: quiet, comfortable, good handling in most conditions. I've put 13K miles on them so far. I replaced the Toyos at 17K miles; in addition to terrible wet handling, they became rather noisy after 10K.

Pros: quiet, comfortable, good handling
Cons: terrible wet handling, noisy
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 13000 km

Pirelli Tires

I put the pirelli scorpion as plus 3 on my 24 cx5 and i haven't hydroplaned since. They have great traction, wet or dry and even in the snow they perform well too.

Pros: great traction, wet or dry

MICHELIN Tires

I LOVED my Michelin Crossclimate 2s! I hit a deer and totaled my sweet 2015 CX5, but I attribute my record braking time to those sweet tires. Worth every penny. Never felt unsafe during snow and ice, plowed through rain, and all around fabulous investment.

Pros: safe during snow and ice

Just got these on my wife's cx5 and yeah they didn't feel much better than the blizzaks we just removed. Then she texted over the weekend to say they're the loudest tires she's ever had and the road noise is terrible.

Pros: null
Cons: loudest tires, terrible noise

Continental Water pump

It turns out the pump (shown mounted) is the wrong size for the factory pulley ! The pulley cannot attach -- too much play and holes don't line up. Compare with old pump (shown on the ground) where the bearing is wider and fits snuggly to the pulley.

Cons: wrong size for pulley
