OEM KIA Tires

Honestly, the Niro hybrid has sohe of the lowest maintenance of any car I owned. I had 178.000 miles on mine when some joker decided to drive into the side of it. I had done nothing but maintenance and tires in all those miles.

Pros: lowest maintenance
Vehicle: Kia
Mileage: 178000 km

Maxxis Tires

Rating 4.0

I had Maxxis winter tires on my Kia. Near impossible to get stuck in deep snow. Wear was really good but just used in the winter. Had them for 7 years with no flats or dry rot. They did tend to wander on the highway though.

Pros: good wear, no flats
Cons: wander on highway
Vehicle: Kia

OEM KIA Brake pads

The Stinger is notorious for this same problem—I know first hand. Sad part is don’t let Kia touch it because the problem is the brake pad. OE pad material adheres to the rotor.

Pros: OE pad material adheres
Cons: brake shudder-vibration
Vehicle: Kia

Rating 3.0

I did Bendix on my ‘21 GT and same on my ‘22 GT1. RockAuto is where I got them. Really can’t tell a difference between OE and Bendix. And no more shudder.

Pros: no more shudder
Cons: no difference from OE
Vehicle: Kia

OEM KIA Catalytic converter

Replaced original manifold cat last December with OE Kia--that cost about $2200 doing it myself. After 5K miles I was getting a pending P0420. Endoscope showed cat inlet center section bubbling...looking like melting had started.

Cons: P0420 code, melting started
Vehicle: Kia Soul
Mileage: 5000 km

Nexen Tires

My car has a bad tramlining habit when driving on those grooved concrete highways that are common throughout Northern California. It basically feels like the back of the car is swerving back and forth erratically even though the other all track remains consistent. It’s really only on concrete highways that have the long grooves parallel to the road. I’m wondering if this is a characteristic of these particular tires or more of an alignment issue or if it’s an overall ev6 thing. I’d actually consider replacing the tires before they’re worn out because I’m so sick of the behavior, but I don’t want to find myself dealing with the same issue on new, different tires. This is with the 19 inch wheels with the Nexen Nfera OEM tires.

Cons: bad tramlining habit, swerving erratically, sick of behavior
Vehicle: Kia
