NGK Spark plug

I went with the NGK rutheniums as they're also rated for 100k and were slightly cheaper on Rock Auto than the iridiums. Supposedly they maintain fuel efficiency longer over their life than iridiums

Pros: maintain fuel efficiency longer
Cons: no personal experience
Vehicle: Honda Fit

Bosch Brake discs

After 160k miles, finally changed the brake rotors. Got the Bosch Quietcast rotors and paired it with the Bosch Quietcast brake pads. Was a pretty simple project, and would highly recommend! Haven’t heard a squeak or anything. Definitely “quiet.”

Pros: quiet, easy install
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 160000 km

Duralast Ignition coil
greenscoobie86
  • Warning light:
Rating 5.0

One additional benefit is that the Duralast Coils have a free replacement for life. FWIW I put about 4 coils on my old 2007 and never had one fail over the course of 5 years and ~50k miles.

Pros: free replacement, never failed, reliable
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 80467 km

WAI Alternator
--DrAwkward--
  • Warning light:
  • Lights:
Rating 4.0

Get the alternator tested. I have a 2013 Fit Sport 5spd and these symptoms happened to me. Pending your budget, try to avoid replacing with a rebuilt alternator. Get either the WAI or Mitsubishi (which is oem) ones as they'll last longer and more reliably.

Pros: last longer, more reliably
Cons: cheapo rebuilt alternator

TYC Headlights
teq4x
  • Brightness:
  • Aim:
  • Condensation:
Rating 4.0

I think I got TYC housings from rock auto for about $300. No issues with aiming them and the cut off was much more clear than my faded oem lights. They came with bulbs but the headlights were really dim so I replaced them. At first had some moisture problems but that went away. Think they have capa certification also.

Pros: easy to aim, clear light cutoff
Cons: dim original bulbs, initial moisture

KYB Shock absorbers
quebecarchery
  • Body bounce:
  • Bottoming:
Rating 5.0

The KYB Shocks and Quick Struts made it a brand-new car.

EXCEPT, with the OEM suspension, it never rode so WELL.

The vague, plush, sloppy feel of OEM felt like crap. No steering response or any road feel, anytime you tried to avoid a pothole in the road, you seemed to hit it.

Pros: brand-new car
Cons: vague, plush, sloppy feel
Vehicle: Honda Fit
Mileage: 120000 km

Pirelli Tires

I eventually got a set of Pirelli tires and upsized to 205-50/16s. Earlier this year I ran over a nail but the tire couldn't be patched because the puncture was too close to the tire edge. When I went to get another I was told that Pirelli tires were backordered because of the pandemic. So I opted for two new Falken tires at the same size because I want the tread to match on the rear axle.

Cons: tire puncture close to edge

  • Cranking:
Rating 2.0

I had to replace the starter in my 2015 at only 75k miles. Highway miles at that. It was not a cheap starter either.

Cons: not a cheap starter

Mileage: 120700 km
