OEM FORD Rear view camera
Goku_4U
  • Image clarity:
Rating 5.0

My last car was a 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost (i.e. turbo four cylinder). It got pretty reasonable gas mileage (I think 27mpg lifetime), really performed well with a lot of exciting miles, and it got fun attention from people. The only repairs it needed in 10 years of ownership outside of oil/filters/tires/brakes was a replacement on the rear-view camera, which was warrantee-repaired at zero cost, and a tightening of the emergency brake cable, which was an insignificant cost.

Pros: reasonable gas mileage
Vehicle: Ford Mustang

Continental Tires

The Continental DWS06 is a huge step up for daily use and they hook noticeably better, but they’re still an all-season, so don’t expect drag-radial levels of grip you’ll still chirp a bit if you launch hard.

Pros: huge step up, hook better
Cons: still an all-season

Akebono Brake pads
StreetLegalGuy
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 5.0

Akebono ProACT or Brembo OEM ceramic pads are great for strong, reliable stopping power and low dust on a 2019 Fusion Hybrid; if the rotors are worn, replace or resurface them too.

Pros: strong, reliable stopping power
Cons: rotors may need replacement
Vehicle: Ford Fusion

Continental Tires

I have the DWS06+ on my 24 PP, world of a difference versus the perelli summers that came stock. Truly felt like I would die on those things sometimes

Pros: world of a difference
Cons: felt like I would die

GT Radial Tires
gdg6
  • Grip:
Rating 3.5

Tires feel fine (but I have only ever disliked one tire - BFG Advantage); will prob keep the GTs but might complain a bit and try to get comped road hazard coverage.

Pros: tires feel fine
Vehicle: Ford Fusion

OEM FORD Cabin filter

I’ve changed the cabin air filter probably 4 times now, used a foam evap coil cleaner twice, ran Lysol thru the cowl multiple times, did a descent bomb in the car. At absolute best, this lasts for a couple weeks and then back to this gross mildew smell coming from vents.

Cons: gross mildew smell

OEM FORD Timing belt
DoireK
  • Visible wear:
Rating 2.0

If it has been done they are actually a good engine when working fine. Plenty of torque and good on fuel. It’s just the reliability of them that’s the major issue. They switched to a timing chain from the wet belt from 2018 for a good reason. The 1.2 turbo engines from PSA are also wet belts and also switched to a chain around 2023. They are a terrible design and simply not going to be economical to maintain properly as the car ages.

Pros: plenty of torque, good on fuel
Cons: major reliability issue, terrible design, not economical to maintain
Vehicle: Ford Focus
