When I bought a new (to me) diesel car I ran the fuel right down and it killed the fuel pump, fuel relay and a fuel injector.

First was moving from AZ to VA. Started overheating in the middle of Oklahoma. they were able to quickly diagnose the failed fuel pump and got us back on the road in a few hours at a fair price.

The only issue I had with mine were fuel pumps. Replaced two before 100,000 miles.
