Good Info Thanks for the info on this thread, I ordered 245/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires for my 2015 S3 with Magnetic Ride and ECS Tuning flush spacer kit. I'll post pictures of how they fit after they get installed tomorrow. Tires are the best mod, I can't wait to be off these Continentals

Pros: Tires are the best mod

Bosch Wiper blades

  • Wipe quality:
  • Streaks/chatter:
Rating 4.0

I ran into the same problem--ordered Bosch OE 26 and 19 ICON wiper blades on Amazon (which are the correct blades for our A3/S3s as confirmed on the Bosch website), and couldn't get them to fit my car. Adapter piece was wrong. One of the blades came with no extra adapters, and the other came with multiple adapters, but none of them were correct for this car. It was a bit of a pain in the butt, but I ended up carefully disassembling my stock blades and removing the rubber insert, and then doing the same to the Bosch units, and then reassembling my stock wipers with the new Bosch rubber inserts. Now they're great--sooooo much better than the stock setup. Cleans well with no chatter.

Pros: cleans well, no chatter
Cons: adapter piece was wrong

OEM Audi Brake pads

I had my S3 in last Friday and the dealership managed to fix my tick/click. I took a video of the noise before taking it in for service but it didn't turn out as well as nikhsub1's; however, the noise was almost identical to nikhsub1's but mine only happened when turning to the right. I would hazard a guess that it may be the same issue some are experiencing with the R. I didn't get the chance to talk to the technician directly but the service writer described the issue as a loose pin or tab on the brakes that was making contact with the rotor.

Pros: easy fix
Cons: loose pin or tab

Continental Tires

  • Noise:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

Mine came with ContiProContact rubber. I ran them at 34-35 psi instead of 37, on a stock suspension. A quiet, and compliant tire. Good for general street use and on the highway. They also worked well in the snow, to my surprise.

Pros: quiet and compliant

RED LINE Engine oil

  • Exhaust smoke:
Rating 5.0

Hi Vr6oom, I have a 2015 S3 with 10.3k miles and also trying to reduce IVD and oil consumption as much as possible. After a bunch of research that I have done to find the lowest possible noack, saps for 5w40, which is the viscosity recommended. I have settled for redline 5w40 euro series, just got my UOA back from Blackstone after 5k miles and everything is looking fine for extended oil use. So far little to no oil consumption

Pros: little to no oil consumption
Vehicle: Audi S3
Mileage: 16575 km

RED LINE Engine oil

The only one that I found that met my standards was redline 5w40 euro series. I have just got my uoa from blackstone and everything looks fine, so for 5k miles on it and no oil has be added.

Pros: good UOA results, no oil consumption
Vehicle: Audi S3
Mileage: 8047 km
Part number: 5W40 EURO SERIES

OEM Porsche Brake caliper
spartiati
  • Uneven wear:
Rating 5.0

I've been through many front brake setups on my car and personally think my current setup is the best balanced. I'm running R32 rotors with 996 turbo calipers up front with phaeton 310mm rotors in the rear. The rear made a nice difference in how the car feels when you are hard on the brakes.

Pros: nice difference in feel

OEM Audi Headlights
ChrisXPPro
  • Brightness:
Rating 3.5

Picture 1 is Audis LED headlight, while the later is a standard Xenon/Halogen set up. The Xe/Ha is cheaper to maintain, but the lifespan is a fraction of the LED. The LED headlight lifespan is said to be years of constant use without issue(20,000+ hrs). The downside to LED is if something does go wrong with the headlight, you cant just replace the LED, you replace the whole unit($1,000+ USD if not under warranty)

Pros: long lifespan (LED)
Cons: high replacement cost (LED), short lifespan (Xenon/Halogen)

MICHELIN Tires

  • Grip:
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 3.0

I was on coilovers for quite a long time and wanted to let everyone know that they cars will eat through rear tires rather quickly once lowered. After the coils were installed I had a proper alignment done ASAP, and noticed that in under 9,000 miles of 97% highway driving my Michelin Pilot Super Sports were just about bald from the inner tread block outward.

Pros: proper alignment done
Cons: tires wear quickly
Vehicle: Audi S3
Mileage: 9000 km
