Sounds about right. 6 weeks after I got my new 2019 M3SR+, kids were throwing rocks at cars. The Model 3 was too new for Safelite to even have windshields for it. Tesla charged $1,200 to replace it before my deductible.
Yep, at a service center here in AZ waiting now for my 3rd replacement on my 2023 MYLR. This time around the total cost was $1534.61, but the cost has gradually increased (like everything else), but I’ve only trusted Tesla to do the replacements for quality control purposes.
My 2019 EXL windshield got replaced 3 yrs ago with aftermarket glass and not a problem at all. And it cost me on $400 everything working fine.
Just had safelite do mine and I don’t recall the brand on the glass but it’s not Tesla. Looks fine to me no issues. Actually the previous windshield was replace by Tesla and the glass quality was not good. I almost took it back to them. Had small waves in it that produced a distortion at certain viewing angles. Then it cracked. It also had a lot of small chips in it way more than other vehicles in the past so maybe this new brand will be better
Just had my model 3 windshield replaced only had it for 6 weeks,All it took was a Amazon truck fling a rock then it started cracking more and more
I had my model 3 for 6 months before I had to replace the window.
I’ve had to put 3 windshields in my Tesla
I purchased a new 2024 Honda Accord EX in August 2024, yesterday 6-7-2025 temperatures reached 94⁰ in my location, when I got in car around 1:30 pm I noticed a split starting from window frame covering near windshield wipers, once I turn AC on the split increase more that 6 increase which currently is more that 8 inching center windshield.
There hasn't been any rocks or debr hitting windshield.
Their windshield/glass quality sucks. I had to get two replacement windshields as both had horrible distortion in the driver's field of view.
My 2021 Accord's windshield looks like it has been sandblasted, has a lot of pits, and a couple of chips, and it's just been a year since I got it. I keep a lot of following distance. Every time I am on the interstate, I just hope I get back home without a new crack, and I always hope I don't hear a sound in the windshield when I am passing a semi. No other brand car that I have driven had a windshield this weak.
