Windshield Tesla or OEM FORD

Go with Tesla. They came to my apartment and did it while the car was in its parking spot plus you know they’re not gonna mess it up and if they do they’ll have to rectify it.

i had a big crack in my windshield and took it to tesla through tesla insurance. paid my $200 deductible and it was done in 4 hours. super easy and convenient.

We had Tesla do it on our Y and it went well.

Got a rock chip 13 days into my MYLR7 ownership which developed into a 20" crack right across the driver's side. Had it replaced next day at the Service Center for my $100 deductible. Great deal I thought... Until I picked up the car and heard wind noise throughout the driver's side. They had to put in another windshield.

Terrible quality. I have both MY and M3 with cracked windshield. I’ve had BMW, Audi, Honda, Infiniti, Mitsubishi and never experienced cracked windshield.

2021 Model Y with 70,000 miles. One windshield replaced about 6 months ago. Encountered random rock on I-75 in Florida.

1 month of owning 2024 MY, 2 cracks on windshield. Went to repair shop 5 other model Y in shop getting repaired.

I have never in my life gotten a chip or crack in my windshield. I’ve had my model Y for 10 days and I have TWO chips!! What the heck?? It’s a used 2021 and it’s not covered under warranty apparently

Ford OEM glass is thin and breaks easy. The sound proof glass or whatever they make. It’s thinner layer so it’s more brittle. More sound material less glass material. I put two OEM in my truck before I finally had enough and just went aftermarket.

I’ve already had to replace the windshield twice since then. The first had a small chip on the edge of the glass and it spread before we even got home. The second happened from a chip that was about 3” above the edge below the windshield wiper. The latter we had filled as safelight, and it spread about a week later.
