3 years 65k miles and a lot of off-roading and high speed road trips. A few chips, no cracks, same factory windshield.
Imo, pilk is the better glass, but more so for quality control than overall quality. Personally, I install more fuyao than anything. If everything looks good run with it.
HAve had the change approx 2 months ago on my 2016, I did choose Pilkington without the audi marker. Paid 1100€ (Hungary) and until now it is as good as factory one.
For whats its worth, I had mine replaced at Safelite and haven't had any issues 4 months later. They used Pilkington glass which is OEM for BMW. HUD still works great. ACC did need recalibration the next day (City Safety features turned off) but they were able to do it at Safelite with Bosch equipment. I use Pilot Assist for >50% of my driving and it is functioning the same as before.
They put in a Pilkington windshield and calibrated everything for about $700.00. Everything works as it should, the HUD is clear but seems to be a a very slight angle compared to the OEM glass.
I replaced the windshield in my 2022 for $350 all said and done. 3rd party installer outside of Atlanta used Pilkington glass and did not need to recalibrate the Eyesight system. I’ve been driving with the new glass for two months now and have had no issues.
They used a Pilkington, and the HUD is blurry- just like my FIRST FACTORY FITTED CARLEX- NO BETTER NO WORSE), no BMW logo, no connected drive inscribed on the glass on the top. But it is an acoustic glass with HUD compatbility- Optics wise no difference, Noise levels about the same, Lane tracking etc works the same as before this incident. No leaks.
The Bronco glass does seem to crack way easier than anything else I've owned. Keep in mind our weather temps in Canada can be a bit extreme though.
I know how to repair windshield chips to prevent them from spreading myself, but as soon as it chips in the bronco, the cracks spread like wildfire and are >6” before I get home!
All my glass I get from Pilk is always scratched to shit
