Pilkington is my favorite but they’ll all work, just looks nicer/ more hydrophobic at first
The glass installed was Pilkington. Pilkington is the OEM glass for my three Mercedes and Ferrari. Look at your windshield. The manufacturer is on it. That is what you want. Next time I got a chip, I called Safelite and asked if they could get me Pilkington glass. They said yes, showed up and replaced it. Happened a third time, and Safelite did it a third time.
I had my oem Saint Gobain Sekurit glass replaced with Pilkington glass since insurance didn't want to pay for the OEM. Never had any issues with HUD visibility; however, the replacement was done by the BMW dealer.
as someone who’s got a cracked windshield in every vehicle I’ve owned, the Mach E has NOT got one
Tell them you want Pilkington glass put in. Pilkington is the OEM for Toyota glass.
Ask your installer for Pilkington Glass. When my OE glass cracked I had Pilkington put in, that was over 10 years ago and I'm still running the same windshield with no cracks.
My wife had to have the windshield changed on her 2024 after a fairly minor rock chip spread into a substantial crack overnight. The OEM on her CR-V is Pilkington, who supplies a lot of auto glass industry-wide. Our insurance didn't allow for OEM glass, so we just made sure the glass shop used Pilkington. The aftermarket windshield hasn't cracked yet, but within a few weeks, another rock hit left a series of defects in the glass (not really chips, but very superficial nicks). Guessing Pilkington just isn't producing a particularly good product, whether it's white label for Honda/Acura or as an aftermarket supplier.
Pilkington glass. I went through two windshields for no reason at all. Worst deductibles I’ve ever had to spend on.
the windshield on my 2018 Toyota RAV4 XLE needed to be replaced and I decided to go through Glass America to get it done. Unfortunately, I've had to take it three times now as each windshield has had somewhat significant distortion.
Yup. Got a 10-12 inch crack from the very bottom in the middle of the windshield just three days after picking up the car (less than 200 miles on the odometer). The dealership said it's not a defect and something must have hit it.
