I have a 2016 A6 2.0T w/52K on the clock now and it's been reliable thus far, although I did have to replace a water pump at 17K.
Had my water pump replaced around 50,000 miles in my 2017 A4 2.0t. Other than that, the car has been rock solid.
Now, I had to get the motor mounts and water pump replaced. Pump was leaking a bit, not taking chances with that.
I was topping up the coolant every month or so. Was advised I would need a new water pump, which I was expecting
Gates pump on my Chevy 5.3 lasted a year and half. That's bullshit.
Installed a Gates water pump on a Toyota Rav4 with a V6. Needed it now and couldn't wait for an OEM or Aisin one from Rockauto. I should have waited because this pump didn't last two months before pissing coolant.
Gates water pumps failed on both my friend's Toyota Echo and my Sienna, his after under a year and mine in about 2 years. Less than 3,000 miles on my Sienna since pump was changed. Ugh. The labor cost, of course, is the bee-atch, more than the pump cost, of course.
Had to get water pump done on my A6 at 90000km / ~56000 miles. Was a couple years older than yours at the time, but still felt pretty low mileage to me.
I bought a Gates water pump off Amazon thinking I could go with a name I trust. Impeller grenaded after 5 months and less than 6k driven.
Installed this GATES water pump 5k miles ago…. Pully seems wobbly as fuck, safe to assume it’s already going out? gonna have to find a better brand
