This time the shop foreman went through the car soup to nuts again, replaced a fuel rail connector, and the water pump.
2015 B9 A4 3.0TDI. Almost at 200k. Original waterpump and no issue in sight.
Audi made it right by making the oem water pump replacement aluminum, not plastic smh.
I went with Gates. My oem pump on my Mazda CX9 failed at 90k.... The bearing failed and the amount of bearing material in the housing was crazy.
Last time I got a new Gates water pump (made in china) the flange position on the shaft was a little different than my old one but it was close enough.
Since Audi clearly makes water pumps on presumably a $50 3d printer, would it make any sense at all to buy an upgraded one, metal or whatever won’t do whatever oem ones love to, and preemptively change out ?
I had mine done on my 2018 S4 from an Audi dealer in PA. Cost me $3,928 total. They replaced the water pump and hoses, coolant regulating valve, vacuum control valves and lines, and the serpentine valve. The water pump is what failed and took everything else with it.
Mines literally the same story as yours. It’s leaking out the weephole after about a month, less than 1500kms install. Their warranty claim procedure looks as complicated as it can get too
It’s a garbage unit, mine started to weep out from the hole after less than 1500kms. Warranty claim seems extra complicated to deter people from using it too
Gates waterpump broke in 2, the base is still mated to the block with all the bolts in-tact
