Rating 5.0

Just replaced my water pump and thermostat on my 2015. Aisin pump, which is oem was $150 on amazon. $40 for the thermostat. Super easy to replace yourself. Especially if they want $4000 to do it.

Pros: super easy to replace
Vehicle: Toyota Prius

OEM Volkswagen Water pump

Water pump you will want to raise the engine to gain access to the water pump. I suggest you use a metal impeller replacement and not a plastic one like the factory original.

Pros: metal impeller replacement
Cons: plastic factory original
Vehicle: Volkswagen Corrado

OEM Volkswagen Water pump

Water pump has been replaced 5 times. Twice under warranty. Had I been smart I would’ve gone with an aftermarket metal pump.

Pros: warranty covered some replacements
Cons: repeated failures, frequent replacement
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 170000 km

OEM Volkswagen Water pump

Mine has also always had constant problems, I’ve spent so much money just replacing the water pump as well. I’ve also considered selling mine, because the cost of maintenance outweighs the fun of the car…

Cons: constant problems, high replacement cost
Vehicle: Volkswagen
