Tires Toyo or Maxxis

Maxxis Tires

The maxxis dth in the 2.3 has been my absolute favorite commuter tire for a long time. I still can't believe how light they are compared to other tires of this size. Tire tread is great for pavement and hard pack. Even had them out for some serious loaded touring and praised them.

Pros: light, great tire tread
Cons: sidewall protection

Toyo Tires

Toyo M55 has been the best tire I have used for heavy payloads. I also get them sipped for year round use. The tire does not perform excellent at anything but decent at everything. Very rugged tire.

Pros: very rugged tire, decent
Cons: not excellent at anything
Mileage: 20000 km

Toyo Tires

As a dude who has rocked Toyo Open County MT's for 5 or 6 years, I recently went with their RT Trail line. They're about 75-100 bucks cheaper, still look aggressive and are WAY quieter.

Pros: cheaper, quieter

Toyo Tires

I’m a huge fan of Toyo’s. On old 1/2 and 3/4 tons I had 33” ATII, 33” HT, 35” MT, 35” RT F-rated, currently running ATIII on my F350 and the old Bronco I sold last week had ATIII’s as well. I’ve NEVER had an issue with any of them. They’ve gotten great wear and are all pretty quiet through 50-65% or so of their lifespan.

Pros: great wear, pretty quiet
Cons: generate some heat
Vehicle: Ford

Maxxis Tires

I've had a good string of flats on my DTHs, but they're such a great tyre otherwise that I could never be mad at them. They're also so big and floppy they're a breeze to remove, unlike most "puncture resistant" tyres.

Pros: great tyre, easy remove
Cons: good string of flats

I love how lightweight and supple the DTH are. Really fast, even though they're quite baloony. But they are one of the worst tires when it comes to puncture protection: I already knew that they're prone to flats when I rode the 37-451 Silkworm version. But the 26" MaxxPro version is just as bad. Tiny glass shards find their way to the tube as if they went through butter.

Pros: lightweight and supple, really fast
Cons: poor puncture protection
