Tires Toyo or BRIDGESTONE

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I strongly recommend proper winter tires. At a minimum, at least get winter rated all weather tires. We had a lot of slushy bullshit build up today. The only reason I was able to get out of my neighborhood & make it to a Dr's appointment was because I run Blizzaks on my ND1.

Pros: able to get out
Cons: slushy bullshit build up
Vehicle: Mazda

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I have Bridgestones in my GTI in 17s with 215/50r17 and obviously don't feel as sporty as 19s but they're great for winter.

Pros: great for winter
Cons: not as sporty
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Toyo Tires

Toyo GSI-6 (non-studded) or G3-Ice (Available studded or non-studded) tires are the best bang for your buck you can get. I have had nothing but good experiences with them on multiple cars. They're also very quiet which is a huge plus on a snow tire for me.

Pros: very quiet, good experiences

I've used Nokians for years but tried Blizzak WS-90s this time around because they were a fair bit less expensive. They seem fine but seem to have noticeably more rolling resistance than the Nokian, and I notice it's easier to spin them starting up on dry pavement in cold weather than I'd experienced with Nokian in the past. I'll be switching back to whatever Hakkapeliitta is current once these are worn out.

Pros: less expensive
Cons: more rolling resistance

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I have Blizzaks and compared to true studded winter tires like Nokian they are not on the same level. But if you dont have ice and snow all the time they have good wet grip.

Pros: good wet grip
Cons: not on same level

BRIDGESTONE Tires

I had a nail in my tire with a very slow leak and went to a random tire shop. They did a crappy plug that was not designed for the Elite's self healing tires so I ended up with a very FAST leak instead.

Pros: plug/patch instead of plug
Cons: crappy plug, very fast leak

I swapped to 19x8.5 Atomic AW21 wheels (21.3 lbs) with Bridgestone Blizzak 6 XL 235/55R19 tires. So it is a more narrow tire. After noticing my battery percentage dropping surprisingly fast on short trips, I put on the energy app some today and see I'm now using nearly 500 Wh/mi on that same day to day driving. I expected snow tires to have worse rolling resistance, but this seems like a lot. 50% more energy usage equates to a 33% reduction in range. Does that seem normal or excessive?

Cons: high energy usage, reduced range
