I'm running Neuspeed RSe16s 17x8.0 45mm with 235/45/17s on stock suspension - zero rub, plenty of clearance, wheels almost flush. One thing I found out with tire size and ride quality, the tires themselves matter as much as sizing. I initially put on Bridgestone RE980AS XLs and they were brittle and hard as a rock with the standard suspension. A switch to grand touring Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus XL made ALL the difference in ride, sacrificing a few tenths of speed on freeway onramps and a bit of capability in the wet. It was worth it.

Pros: better ride, more capability
Cons: less speed, less capability
Vehicle: Volkswagen

NITTO Tires

I’ve never used them on a Miata, but I’ve gone through two sets on my Jetta GLI and another set on a big-turbo Audi A4. I think they’re fantastic for the price. Perfect balance of grip and longevity. They’re not the greatest in heavy rain or standing water but they’ll do the job if you take it easy. Obviously not something you’ll want to run in the snow although I did this year due to laziness (couldn’t make it up my driveway). I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another set.

Pros: perfect balance, grip and longevity
Cons: not greatest in heavy rain

I am running 235/35/19 Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3’s on the OEM Englishtowns. In terms of performance, I would say they are really good I didn’t have any issues with braking or accelerating

Pros: really good performance
Cons: a lot of snow

Thursday was not a good day for one of my Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 tires. On the way to work a pothole got my front right side tire...When I got home I notice a nick in the rim, but not the damage to the tire...Called Tirerack, since I have the road hazard coverage and filed a claim.

Pros: road hazard coverage
Cons: tire no longer in stock

Those tires are complete total dogshit. I will never, ever put them on my car again. About 2K miles of good tires, and about 20K of greaseball bullshit.

Cons: total dogshit, greaseball bullshit
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 2000 km

mine lasted easily 30-40k miles but they sucked the whole time. i once got stuck on slight inclines where there was a stop light because it was raining. didnt even set off aggressively but the wheels just spun on me, it wasnt cold or anything...just slightly wet.

Pros: lasted 30-40k miles
Cons: sucked the whole time
Vehicle: Volkswagen
