I'm running VikingContact7 on the wife's Passat, and I have Hakkapeliitta R3 on my Alltrack. I figure when the R3 get replaced next fall VikingContact7 will replace them. They are excellent on snow and ice and very quiet. I've driven thru stuff on them that after I get thru I realize I probably should have been more careful, but didn't notice a thing a the time. I don't do that with the Hakkapeliittas.

Pros: excellent on snow and ice, very quiet

I'm running the Conti VIkingContact7s. I had them on my 2019 and the dealership transferred them over to the new car for me since they're the same size. I've been very happy with them over the past two winters. They will definitely give up some dry weather handling to something like a PA4, but they're excellent on snow and ice. They're also reasonably quiet for a winter tire as well.

Pros: excellent on snow and ice, reasonably quiet
Cons: gives up dry handling

Pirelli Tires

I have Pirelli Scorpion A/T Plus for about a year, and 20k km (the passenger version not LT). I am pleased with them, because they have good handling. The grip on unsealed road seems satisfactory.

Pros: good handling, satisfactory grip
Mileage: 20000 km

Just moved from Nokian all weather, which are really good, to studded Contis on a small fwd vehicle. Pretty unreal difference. Have Bridgestone all weather on an awd vehicle, which are also good, but the studded Contis beat the crap out of them.

Pros: unreal difference

Recently replaced my worn out 18 inch Primaxys (36000 miles) with the Continental DWS06s. It looks like a 5-10% efficiency drop versus the stock tires. I think they are a little quieter on the highway though. Bumps do have a reverb sound the stocks didn't have.

Pros: little quieter on highway
Cons: efficiency drop, reverb sound
Mileage: 36000 km

Every set of Contis and Michelins I have ever seen wear for absolute crap, lose all of their grip after a short amount of mileage, poorly riding, compromised in handling, and are LOUD to the point of distraction....Right up until they are a bare, poorly weathered carcass at less than 20k in mileage. They have never seen worth the price that they charge for them.

Cons: poor wear, lose grip, poor ride, compromised handling, loud
Mileage: 20000 km
