Tires Pirelli or Achilles

Pirelli Tires

I am running 235/35/19 Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3’s on the OEM Englishtowns. In terms of performance, I would say they are really good I didn’t have any issues with braking or accelerating

Pros: really good performance
Cons: a lot of snow

We have the optional 21" wheels with T rated Pirelli Scorpion tires. Plenty firm, and it doesn't wallow around at all.

Pros: plenty firm
Cons: none

I currently have perelli sottozero 3 on my Stinger, which have been fantastic during winter track days and are rated for higher speeds than the x ice 3s are.

Pros: fantastic during winter

A few months after owning my 2018 SEL-P I wound up replacing all four tires. It shipped with Continentals and I replaced them with Pirellis, the difference in road noise was like upgrading an entire class of vehicle. It's not funny how loud the Conties were and how much quieter the Pirelli are at the same size/wheel/etc.

Pros: much quieter, huge difference
Cons: very loud

I've got the Pirelli P7 (P Zero doesn't come in my size) and it's been pretty great. Amazing wet grip, really helps in the Pac NW. No issues with cooler temps, although they're just okay on snow and ice. Can't speak to treadwear yet, they're still pretty new.

Pros: amazing wet grip
Cons: okay on snow/ice

Those Pirellis consistently test among the best UHP tires money can buy. Expect around 30% longer tread life than the Firestones, however, even the latter should last at least 50k km.

Pros: best UHP tires
Cons: shorter tread life
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 50000 km

I live in Worcester and work in Boston, I get no days off (state nursing supervisor)... I’ve been running Sottozero 3’s since I bought the car and they haven’t dusappointed me. I’ve even hit a couple unavoidable bridge expansion joint craters on 9/128/pike and they’ve held up. I guess I’ve been lucky! Worcester is notorious for hills, lots of snow, and poor plowing by the DPW and I feel as confident as I did running Hakkas on my prior TDI Golf.

Pros: haven't disappointed me

I have had a few Pirelli tires. The only Pirelli tire I was ever impressed with were the Rosso's and the Corsa's. One thing to mention is Pirelli mileage warranties have always been inflated (as well as many other companies). Do not expect 50k out of these and track every rotation and do them on time. With other Pirelli performance all season tires they were good for the first 1/3 of tread then got borderline undividable in snow and heavy rain. More noticeable than other competitors when worn. One thing to note is I have always liked the Pirelli sidewall stiffness compared to Michelin and Continental.

Pros: Pirelli sidewall stiffness
Cons: inflated mileage warranties

Yeah, I did actually try a set of P-Zeros on my Fiesta Zetec S. They were shockingly bad in damp conditions and, ironically, wore out very quickly. Wouldn't recommend.

Cons: bad in damp, wore quickly
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta

I have the same tires on our 12. Car currently has just shy of 40k miles, I took the car out to see how it would perform in some snow we had gotten. The tires were rock solid and almost caused me to crash twice. Once I was doing less than 5mph slowly applied brakes on a very slight incline and just slid, not on ice but snow. Second was similar getting into a parking lot. Maybe in just spoiled in my S4 with blizzaks, but I'll be replacing these with something different soon

Cons: almost caused crashes
Mileage: 64374 km
