I have used the Rekon/Rekon Race combo and it is good for xc. I’m currently on Vittoria Barzo/Mezcal and I like them a little bit more than the Maxxis combo
Rekon for the rear - Forecaster for the front. Super light - super fast - and good for all scenarios other than wet mud.
My favorite trail bike combo right now is a DHR2 front and dissector rear but I’m considering switching to rekon rear.
I’ve used Nankang plenty of times on my older cars, they were fine. Drove fine in wet, drove fine in dry, no louder than any other tires.
Maxxis Razr ATs. They handle great and served me well in winter driving.
I think it really depends on the car. A fresh set of 13” AR-1 will last 2000-3000km on track on my dad’s Caterham.
Not my favorite tire but rubber and casing make a bigger difference than tread patterns. Especially in the roots and rocks. I'd take a 3c Maxxis anything over a Kenda every time.
I am not a fan of ardents. They roll fast but have a habit of loosing grip when you least expect it and suck at regaining grip once they start to slide. I'm running Recons front and back and really like the set up. They roll pretty fast and are usually very predictable.
I've tried the Ardent in a 2.3 width as a rear tire, and wasn't a fan. It was prone to breaking loose easily in corners with little warning.
I rode a set of these from California to Panama. Would not recommend. The ride quality is decent but these things will find every fucking shard of wire scraps along the road. I got 3x as many flats as any of the folks I rode with.
