Rating 4.0

Just installed a new set of Michelin CrossClimate2 all weather tires to tackle the upcoming Colorado winter. Ride seems a bit more firm, in a generally good way. Seems just as quiet on most surfaces, and from prior experience with these on my other cars, I know the trend to get a bit quiter after an initial break in period.

Pros: ride seems more firm

Maxxis Tires

The only thing I’d add is I’d suggest them in Maxxspeed, but they are only available in 2.35. Rode them front/rear last season and they were excellent.

Pros: they were excellent
Cons: only available in 2.35

Maxxis Tires

I've been really impressed recently with the Conti tires (Cross Kings or Race Kings depending on how XC you want to go with it), specifically the ProTection versions with the Black Chili compound. Coming from Maxxis stuff I've been surprised by the amount of grip they have given how fast-rolling they are, at least for my local conditions (New England, so rocks, roots, more roots, a few roots, some roots, roots, rocks, roots, some more roots, a lot of roots, and roots.)

Pros: amount of grip
Cons: hard to find

MICHELIN Tires

I switched out to Cross Climate 2s , from Connecticut up to Portland was probably  some of the worst snow I've ever had to drive in. They felt Incredible. I drive on the highway every day here and in thunderstorms it's nothing but confidence.

Pros: felt incredible

Maxxis Tires

Rekon Race is super fast if it has enough traction for you. If not, Rekon isn't a bad tire to try. Not as fast, but it won't give out when you push it too hard.

Pros: not bad tire
Cons: not as fast

Maxxis Tires

I have used the Rekon/Rekon Race combo and it is good for xc. I’m currently on Vittoria Barzo/Mezcal and I like them a little bit more than the Maxxis combo

Pros: good for xc

MICHELIN Tires

All seasons are deceptive. Not *bad* in the snow but you’ll see on most of them “light powder” conditions - meaning anything other than a quick flurry will undermine performance. Get these + snow tires and swap during the winter or get a better tire rated for snow like Michelin Crossclimates or Nokian WR G4s.

Pros: better tire rated
Cons: deceptive in snow
