Tires Kumho or DUNLOP

DUNLOP Tires

my 195/55/15 direzza's lasted last summer. approximately 7k, with over 40 autox runs, and 4 hot laps at a local track. they were about 50% remaining tread. keep in mind they were on a miata.

Pros: 50% remaining tread
Cons: no noise at the limit
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 11265 km

Kumho Tires

I ran the Kumho XS (250/50 15 on a 2006 Mazda 2) last summer and found them to be fairly comparable to the superceded Bridgestone RE01R, albeit much cheaper. I did 4-5 autocross sessions on them on top of 'spirited' drives in the local mountains every weekend. My fronts lasted just under 3000 miles to slick and the rears around double that, but I do have a fairly aggressive alignment.

Pros: fairly comparable, much cheaper
Cons: fronts lasted under 3000 miles
Vehicle: Mazda 2
Mileage: 4828 km

Kumho Tires

I have had both sets on cars I have owned. the kh16 is more of a highway tire, it grips good in all weather conditions. The LX platinum is good in all conditions accept snow, it gets ok traction because of the softer rubber used. It grips better than any tire I have had for the price of them in dry conditions

Pros: grips good in all weather
Cons: LX platinum bad in snow

DUNLOP Tires

My 09 Lux only has about 6000 miles but when I bought it I expected to replace the OE tires right away. I had done my homework and came up with the Dunlop SP Sport Signature as the best bet, at a good price too.

Pros: good price
Mileage: 6000 km

Kumho Tires

For the tires I have both Kuhmo Exsta XS and Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1. The Kuhmos offer amazing grip in the dry, a bit more than the Dunlop I would say. Highly recommended for autocross.

Pros: amazing grip in the dry

DUNLOP Tires

Not much noise, but have seen an uneven wear pattern, even with periodic tire rotation. For my Passat, at least, the rear tire position begins to create a "finned edge" to the shoulders of the tire.

Pros: not much noise
Cons: uneven wear pattern

DUNLOP Tires

The OEM A/S Dunlop has a 92 sidewall rating; it certainly isn't "soft." it is, unfortunately, just a weak tire design/build in this case I've lost 3 already as well and currently running a 4th with a bubble... they suck

Cons: weak tire design
Vehicle: BMW

DUNLOP Tires

On my S2000, about 2 weeks ago had brand new Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs installed by a local garage. A few days later, the driver's side rear tires was extremely low on air pressure, that I noticed after the car was pulling to one side during acceleration/letting off the gas pedal.

Pros: new tires installed
Cons: low air pressure, vibrations
Vehicle: Honda S2000
Mileage: 200 km
