Tires Falken or Maxxis

Falken Tires

I'm 3k miles in on my 23 pro. 285/75/16's w/ spacers.

The Falken's are quieter.

They gave better grip in wet and icy conditions.

They did result in a very mild mpg hit.

Pros: quieter, better grip
Cons: mild mpg hit
Mileage: 4828 km

We got a 24' CT Sport. Came with Falken Z1E ZE001A A/S tires. They are great in the summer but didn't like them for the winter. So we got the Falken Wild Peak AT tires. So far they are great.

Pros: great in the summer
Cons: didn't like winter
Mileage: 6000 km
Part number: Z1E ZE001A

I have experience with these tires. I have them on my 2017 mercedes c300 currently in nh. we get a lot of snow and ice and snow rain mix, and they work great for that! this is my 2nd winter with them. I will say this. in dry weather, they do give a little glide while driving. as in you notice you have a different traction tire on made for snow. it makes it not as smooth of a drive. especially for my model car. I have used them for 11k miles, and the tread is still 85%. since having these, I haven't got stuck once, and in the worst of the worst, I drove on highway and was able to drive safely in my lane without sliding, doing about 48mph on the highway. we just had 6 storms with over 3 inches each storm, in the last 2 weeks, and I was good to go in all of them. worth every bit of what I paid. they are best suited for heavy snow and ice and help break up the ice underneath you as you drive. if you live where you get a lit of snow ❄️, I would highly recommend them. hope this helps. stay safe.

Pros: great in snow and ice
Cons: glide in dry weather
Vehicle: Mercedes
Mileage: 11000 km

Maxxis Tires

I've had good luck with the Maxxis tires, I've had them on all three of our trailers without a failure.

Pros: no failures

Maxxis Tires

I ride mixed terrain and a good all year tyre for me is the Assegai. With that said, I had DHF front and rear on my old bike and it was stuck to the ground like glue.

Pros: stuck to the ground

Falken Tires

The AT4’s are only slightly louder than the defenders (almost not noticeable) and mpg is probably 1/2 to 1 mpg less. One thing that surprised me though, even though they are 3 peak snow rated they feel less sure footed on light snow than the Defenders.

Pros: slightly louder than defenders
Cons: less sure footed on snow
Mileage: 11000 km

I bought the RT660s because I wanted to save money after running the RE71s.....regretted it. Just doing one season and switching back. The pressures are weird ( need to run way higher than RE71s) and they feel like ice skates on asphalt.

Cons: feel like ice skates

Falken Tires

On a totally non-Mazda related note I put Falken Wildpeak AT Trails on my Jeep just over a year and half ago. All four of them already have weather cracking. And Falken doesn’t have a specific warranty for that, you simply have to claim the warranty under their general six year manufacturing defects and materials and hope they give you some help. They start at 11/32, rated for 65,000 miles and after 20,000 miles they are already down to 6.5/32

Cons: weather cracking, wearing quickly
Vehicle: Jeep
Mileage: 20000 km
