I have a pair of Continental Gator Hardshells. All I can say is that having them on my bike is like having a pair of Hulk's foreskin on my wheels. I ride in NYC so the streets can get pretty messy. Glass, twigs, metal shards, shrapnel, bullets, arrows, and the occasional mortar rounds are no biggie for these tires.
I dirve a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX and when I moved to Colorado 2 years ago, I put on Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires. I love them! They are so much better than the OEM tires were. I've driven the car on mountain roads during heavy snow.
The Continental ExtremeContact DWS are fantastic tires, WAY better than any other AS I have run in the snow and the only AS tire that has allowed my to traverse my steep driveway in the snow, excellent in the wet and quite good in the dry while being pretty quiet.
I use Falken myself.
I love continental extreme winter contacts... had them on my old car. I had michelins in the past as well, and prefer the continentals
I have a B7 V6 Passat Wagon here in Australia and they come with Continental ContiSportContact 5 and they are amazingly quiet, much better than the Pirelli P Zero's I had on my R36 Wagon.
+ get the continental DW, it has soft walls
By far the best tire I've ever ridden on. Just excellent all around.

There's a vendor on the west coast that sells a couple of Continental tires, but I can't find the link. I didn't get them because, one, they were about $140 each, and two, according to owner reports on the Tire Rack, they're not that good a tire.
