The tire I decided to go with is the Goodyear Eagle RS-A2 P245/45R19, as it is almost the exact diameter of my stock P225/65 16" tires, and they were an affordable choice ($185 Canadian).

Pros: affordable choice, exact diameter
Cons: higher pressure required
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Once you talk about ditching the crap Dunlops that come from the factory and adding a rear sway bar, you are talking big-time fun.

Pros: big-time fun
Cons: crap Dunlops
Vehicle: Mazda 3

I looked up a review of the PS3's and found a comparison test between those, the Eagle's, the Continental asymmetrical all season and another tire. I was most interested in the PS3 but after reading the review/tests it seems the Eagle may suit my priorities better- the biggest being fuel consumption. Of the 4 the Eagle picked up an extra mile and change worth of MPG over the PS3. Both did well in the dry and wet handling trials.

Pros: good dry and wet handling
Cons: fuel consumption

YES< Subaru ahs better AWD, but put on Tig good snow tires like Dunlop M3 or Pirelli or Michelin, and there is no obstacle. I used those tires on FWD and RWD cars in Southern Alps and never had issues, never got stuck, always break on a dime. With 4Motion they are unstoppable.

Pros: unstoppable with 4Motion

my Yaris came with H-rated Goodyear Assurance FuelMax tires. They aren't terribly sporty but the handling is competent, they're very quiet, ride well, do well in the wet and -- despite my best efforts -- seem to be very slow wearing. The car also gets 3-4 more MPG than our '11 Yaris which has an identical powertrain but normal tires (horrible Bridgestone RE92s).

Pros: competent handling, very quiet, ride well, slow wearing, good wet performance, improved fuel economy
Cons: not terribly sporty

DUNLOP Tires

Drove in the rain with the Dunlop Saturday. The traction control came on a few times, but I think its due more to the amount of low-end torque the GLI makes. Now it wasn't difficult to drive, just watch how much throttle you give it.

Pros: easy to drive
Cons: traction control activates

DUNLOP Tires

I'll never use Dunlop again, although I had the SP Sports as OEM on the GLI not the Signature. They ran like garbage, had a horrible lifespan, and provided no benefit above the Generals I have now. Yet they are much pricier.

Pros: no benefit above Generals
Cons: ran like garbage, horrible lifespan

Asymmetric 2's, not the A/S version. I've driven the A/S version in rain and was underwhelmed with those too. At least in heavy rain, I wouldn't want them--that's based on only one experience, but they were at least 8/32's and were not impressive.

Cons: not impressive in rain
