Tires DUNLOP or Goodyear

DUNLOP Tires

No experience with studded tires but I had Dunlop Winter Sport snow tires on my VW GTI VR6 and it was ridiculous. I was able to do the speed limit when I should have been going half that or less, lol.

Pros: able to do speed limit
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Goodyear Tires

I had 245/55/r18 Goodyear eagle enforcer winter tires and they are probably the best winter tires I’ve ever had. Even on ice (at reasonable speeds) they handled well.

Pros: handled well on ice
Cons: a little pricey

Goodyear Tires

My first set (255 55 R20) lasted for 4 years. Same size on the 2nd set I had installed in late October of 2023. Superior wet traction in the heaviest of downpours. 80 mph on the parkway with no hiccups! Superb snow traction as well, as I was able to negotiate steep snowy roads with my 2020 Ford Explorer Limited Trim without losing traction.

Pros: superior wet traction, superb snow traction

Finally got a chance to run 5 sessions on the Dunlop Mutant tires at a local track. Overall thoughts - what a great tire. Amazing feel, which is an intangible, but I love how this tire delivers feedback and I really like the profile of the 120/150 combo on my WR250R Supermoto. Overall grip is fantastic but you can definitely feel they do not want to be pushed at a very fast pace like you could on a ContiAttack or Q5. They have way more grip than some older gen tires like the Pilot Power 2CT though, possibly as much as the original Dunlop Q3. The tread pattern does not squirm at all either, felt super stable under trail braking. Wear pattern is also solid but that’s expected with a 250. Highly recommend giving these a try for a do everything set up.

Pros: amazing feel, fantastic grip
Cons: not for very fast pace

DUNLOP Tires

My z900rs came with Dunlop sport max gpr-300s. There is a series of twistiest at the bottom of my road…so lucky! Car takes them at 25mph safely. The z900 with gpr-300’s takes these same twisties at 50-60mph pretty solid and I ain’t no gp racer.

Pros: pretty solid

Goodyear Tires

Also if you can, get Goodyear assurance. We had them on my husband's old car and they were good. Very little road noise, compared to the cheap Kelly edges the dealership put on his Impreza before we bought it.

Pros: little road noise

Goodyear Tires

I just put Goodyear Eagle Exhilarates on my Miata, 205/45/17’s. So far, so good, also got the road hazard warranty due to the potholes around here.

Pros: so far, so good
Vehicle: Mazda

If your car feels like it’s bouncing/bobbing sideways (I’m guessing that’s what you mean by “bubbling”), it’s probably due to the softer material used on the winter tires. I’m running a set of Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady and they show the same behavior. The effect will less noticeable eventually as the tire passes the break-in period.

Cons: softer material

DUNLOP Tires

I was naive and thought I'd be able to get away with the stock Dunlop tires until my breaks locked up on a snowy road approaching a red light at 5mph. Get some all weather tires asap!

Cons: breaks locked up
