I have dunlop mutants on my husaberg supermoto. I love them but the sides tear up pretty quickly under hard use. They're nice and sticky though!
I just wanted to share my opinion of the Dunlop Mutants after about 3000km of fixed use (highway touring, mountain twists, commuting, and fire/gravel/cottage roads in wet/dry/cold conditions. The tires are brilliant and my new favourite road tire.
But I’m a major fan of American elite 4’s. They came on the new bike and I’ve put 10k on them in the last 3 months and they haven’t aged a bit.
Last two tires I ran were GPR300s. The traction was good in the corners, only negative for me was the lifetime, only 3,000mi each before having to replace.
Dunlop is a fine brand and the Sportmax is perfectly good tire. You will be fine.
Chinese tires now are pretty decent and are a bargain. The only serious issues I've faced surprisingly were from branded ones - I've had bubbles on Yokohama and Dunlop.
Mine held up really well and was decent on the road and hard dirt and gravel.
Loose stuff though? Not a fan.
They ride like shit on the road, I’m sorry.
They blow. Not great in rain either.
Don't go Chinese, had them on low profile 19 inches, were shot and damaged in less than 15k kms. I usually stick to the big names, Dunlop best traction, bridgestone best comfort and life, Yokohama a balance of both. Last for a decent time and the overall cost was lower compared to the kms done not to undermine the sense of safety
