We put Conti VikingContact 7 on the Passat last winter. They are fantastic. They've actually scared me more than once when I realized that I just drove thru stuff I should be careful on but never even noticed it.
I have the new VikingContacts on the AWD Alfa and they are even better. Both the Generals and Contis responded better at warmer temps, if that matters to you.
Continental. Had it for about a year now. Love them. Have had Pirelli and BFGs on previous cars but the Continental's are the best tire I've ever had.
I have Continental winter tires and am happy with them, but they are a bit expensive.
I have both currently and they’re both great tires
Continental DWS 06 or the new DWS 06 Plus that was released earlier this year is my go-to for all season.
Continental 4 Seasons are faster than Gatorskins while still having reasonable puncture protection.
With the Arteon, and some pretty sporty driving, I am about to replace all 4 tires on Wednesday, with around 32,000 miles - the fronts are right at the wear bars and the backs still have a touch more
I have Conti-Extreme Contact DWS06's on her from fall-spring (right now I have summers on.) today the temps were at around 57* and they were most certainly squirrely until they warmed up. They are a good overall tire but they will break loose (both all season and summer) if you have enough HP. they're a good all season tire. but I wouldn't push them to the limits. they are predictable also and I've pushed them in the corners with satisfactory handling.
My Scout came from the factory Kenda tires. I am wholly not impressed with them, after 9,000 km they are just starting to scrub in for turning grip. I am also under the understanding that these factory tires are only good for 10,000km, so I will be changing none the less.
The addition of any moisture to the rear wheel, including from dew or fog reduces grip friction into the realm of nonexistence making for a disconcerting riding experience.
