Personally I'm running Potenzas
Bridgestone Re71R for asphalt, BFG Rival 1.5 for concrete
Currently running Bridgestone RE760 Sports. Classified as "Ultra High Performance" I have found them to be a great summer tire on a DD.
Absolute best grip in that size will be the Bridgestone Potenza RE71-R. That would be the 'autocross special' tire. It's a 200 treadwear rated tire, so it's legal in the SCCA Street classes, but it's very soft and extremely grippy.
Been using 225/45R-17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS80's...they have been great last 2 winters.
Had the Conti All Seasons last winter and was not real happy how they performed on ice/snow. Wife was slipping and sliding all over, especially in single digit temps. Took advantage of a Costco Bridgestone deal and got the Blizzak snow tires for about $700 after installation. Haven't had a chance to test them yet in the elements, but the ride is very quiet although a little more floaty/soft. Can't take the corners as fast as you would with the Conti's.
My Civic Hybrid has Bridgestone Ecopias. Grip is pretty bad, but they are very predictable, in that they kind of start to warn you when they are losing grip, then gradually go from having grip to not having grip. Very smooth transition and very easy to correct any slides. Have noticed they appear to be wearing quite quickly as well.
