I also suggest NGK spark plugs. And not necessarily the high-end Iridium ones. The 'lower' end ones are just as good.
I personally run 0.035" on BKR7E-IX plugs and the red 06E coils. Significant improvements to acceleration and responsiveness after the ECU adapted
When I got the car back from the shop I installed a wide-band O2 and changed the plugs to NGKBKR7e's (Copper) gapped to 0.028. I also re-greased the DV, since last time I had used generic grease general purpose grease, with high temp grease. The car feels a lot better now, and timing pull ranges from 3-8 under WOT. The AFR gauge shows anywhere from 12.5-13.0 under WOT, and bounces between 14.3-15.2 or so while cruising. I also believe that I hear the DV a bit more (have a cone intake), so maybe it was sticking?
Replaced mine at 40,000 with NKG Platnium and it runs better than ever. I wish I had a pic of the ones I removed. They were baddddd.
I got the plugs in just fine, and since this was the first time they had ever been changed, the originals were still there. Aside from having the Audi/ VW logos printed on the topside of the plugs' insulators, these are regular ol' NGK PZFR5D-11 plugs (stamped on the metal). The new ones I put in were pre-gapped at .040, and the old, worn ones were at .044 for the passenger-side plugs and at .043 for the driver-side plugs. I'm guessing that the elevated distance/numbers reflects natural wear and metal erosion over time.
i just replaced my plugs and wires from ecs not too long ago. right around mid june. i got NGK plugs and wires, plug type was the one u listed there, i have an AVH. the wires i got were numbered wrong just a heads up to anyone that buys them.
I prefer the NGK 8 or 9's, running them at 19 psi gapped at .018.
Napa usualy is the only parts store around me that carries NGK in stock
I'm having the exact same problems with my 01 GTi VR6, ive replaced the coil pack and wires/plugs twice within 20,000ish miles...
I have the one sided electrode NGKs and it screwd up my mileage. but it seemed to happen once I switched the spark plugs.
