Ended up getting NGK.
I did the plugs around the same mileage in my 2014 CX-5 (2.5 liter), last April at 65,000 miles. Used the comparable NGK Laser Iridium plugs. Mine had some carbon buildup but all in all, they probably could have went longer.
I use the NGK 1675 and have and factory black coils and haven't had an issue. I have had issues with with other brands.
For what it's worth, here's my 2 cents on plugs and wires. I've read several threads here that indicated something along the lines of, \"YOU'D BETTER D@MN WELL USE NOTHING, I MEAN NOTHING BUT OEM BRAND PLUGS AND WIRES!!! THE CAR IS TUNED AT THE FACTORY USING THESE. IF YOU USE ANYTHING ELSE, YOUR CAR WILL RUN LIKE SH@T AND YOUR FUEL ECONOMY WILL BE TERRIBLE. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!\" Fast forward to a few months ago when I had a breakdown an hour from home and was trying to figure out the problem. Because I was on the side of the road, I had to Uber it to the nearest parts store and take what they had on offer. If I remember right, the plugs were Autolite and the lightning hoses were Carquest (don't quote me here). No Bosch, no Bremi, etc. I was nervous about it, but hey, the car's 20 years old, so I wasn't worried about squeezing out the MAX performance. Guess what? It runs exactly the same as before and gets the same gas mileage.
NKGs are the exact same plug just different label and cheaper, and are much better than the stock plugs.
On NGK s website it says laser iridium (the oem ones) are good for 100k miles.
So far, the OP is on to something. I’m using these plugs and that are great. Next I’m going to try the NGK ZFR6T-11G Copper Nickel. These are OEM for later 2.5 motors. I have early 2.5. I’m curious how these slightly bottler plugs will run and especially since I run premium at all times. I’ll report back. But good find OP. These work great.
I changed spark plugs to NGK laser platinum plugs with a 0.32 gap. The issue only arouse after I got the tune.
Don't think the platinums give much of a performance advantage and they foul faster if you've got any oil burning going on...
Bought these exact plugs recently and had the same problem- tip doesn’t unscrew- had to return them.
