Spark plug NGK or Autolite

NGK Spark plug

I went with the NGK rutheniums as they're also rated for 100k and were slightly cheaper on Rock Auto than the iridiums. Supposedly they maintain fuel efficiency longer over their life than iridiums

Pros: maintain fuel efficiency longer
Cons: no personal experience
Vehicle: Honda Fit

Autolite Spark plug

In my 206 classes we run this autolite sparkplug because it’s required.

My understanding is that we switched because people were buying plugs in bulk and looking for ones with the lowest internal resistance believing it would effectively advance the engines timing. Supposedly these autolite plugs are much more consistent.

Pros: more consistent

I run NGK on my 15. The car runs great doesn’t miss. I used OEM Denso 5339 but they lasted 10-15k but then I tried NGK 92182 and they’ve lasted bout 40k so I’ve had no issues with them both of them Iridium.

Pros: car runs great, no issues
Cons: Denso short lifespan
Vehicle: Ford Focus
Mileage: 40000 km
Part number: 7243

If you care more about performance, or cheaper cost, get the autolite a103, or ar103. Those will give you the best performance, but they only last like 10k. But they’re also dirt cheap.

Pros: best performance, dirt cheap
Cons: short lifespan
Mileage: 10000 km
Part number: A103

NGK Spark plug

For spark plugs I always used NGK because that's what Motorcraft actually uses if I remember correctly. Autolites are complete garbage and always fouled out the few times I used them.

Pros: reliable, better than Autolite
Cons: Autolites are complete garbage

NGK Spark plug

Yep. Ordered some NGK iridium plugs on Amazon, 2600 miles later the car was misfiring. The gap was toast. Counterfeit for sure.

Cons: misfiring, gap toast
Mileage: 2600 km

I’ve kept to stock plugs with stage 1. I tried the recommended “colder” plugs and they failed in less than 10k miles.

Cons: failed in less than 10k
Mileage: 10000 km
