My two cents. KYB is great, don’t buy a eco KYB get something in the daily driver to performance range. The cheap KYB are just too hard riding IMO.

Pros: KYB is great
Cons: hard riding

I did it on my 2009 Corolla standing at 130k km. The chap who installed it said that I’d need to replace those within a year. It has been four now and it is still working as it should.

Pros: working as it should, long-lasting
Mileage: 130000 km

I put Sachs in all the Mk1 front ends that I work on, including my own. For the rear, I use KYB Gas Adjust, because I haul and tow with mine, and I want the shocks to be stiff.

Pros: stiff shocks

The Excel-G (which I believe are called the GR-2 now) are stock replacements. If you just want to freshen things up, they'd be fine, and with a mild drop I think they'd be okay in terms of longevity (but you never know). If you're looking for a performance shock though, the GR-2 is not it.

Pros: stock replacements, fine for freshening, okay longevity
Cons: not for performance

I would rebuild the struts with new KYB shocks and retain the OEM springs and buy new OEM mounts. I have had terrible luck with quickstruts in a Lexus.

Cons: terrible luck
Vehicle: Lexus LS

KYB Shock absorbers

I put those on my 2007 Maxima and didn't have a good result. The rear KYB shock absorbers were way too stiff and they made the car bouncy at highway speeds.

Cons: too stiff, bouncy at highway speeds
Vehicle: Nissan Maxima
