i DIY or pay a subaru specialty shop for a change, we both use motul, genuine filter, crush ring, just they do oil samples for me cause i dont feel like that hassle

Always use BMW genuine oil or Liqui Moly, along with BMW OEM M oil filters, which are made in Austria and feature an ultra-fine mesh for superior filtering.

Changed my '06 BPY oil today, noticed large copper flakes in the oil filter and at the bottom of the pan when draining oil.

Pros: noticed copper flakes

I work for a dealership and have seen many Chinese filters collapse just like that...I've seen other Chinese filters get so bad that it starved the engine of oil pressure which lead to vanos faults among other things....I'd always go for bmw oil filters, that's not something I'd be willing to "experiment" with

Pros: BMW filters are reliable

Cons: Chinese filters are unreliable
