I use the Bosch, and Ive been happy with them so far.
Bosch.
Never had issues with the Red Bosch ones I got from Shopdap.com But plugs, I preferred the NGK Ruthenium HX over the Laser Platinum, and Iridium-IX
I have used the 027 coil in a beetle with with points and the coil was getting hot. It was solved by using the 039 coil (Bosch grey).
Had thrown some 2 years ago and still running clean as ever
Have 2/4 duralast coils on my car and about 50k miles later they’re still fine
I pulled all the coils out and one of them was rusted to shit. As I mentioned, I didn't want to pay $460 to get them from MINI, so the parts store supplied me with Bosch coils and they worked well. I ripped the car through the business district I work in ala Grand Tour; all the stuttering problems, hiccups are gone and the car feels way more powerful than before.
The Delphi coils are junk. Bosch updated the coils they offered and we've used the updated coil multiple times and never had to warranty a single one out in the 4 years we've been installing them.
Everytime we've used a Delphi in the past the white silicone on the boot degrades and falls apart in 6-12 months and customer cars came back with misfires again.
The old Bosch coils wear out because people don't do spark plugs and replacements on time. The old plugs end up with crazy gaps and it kills the coils. Usually at 100k-120k miles but honestly that's the normal lifespan of a pencil style coil regardless.
If you're plugs are old and you're beginning to experience misfires then save yourself the time do all 6 plugs and coils. Your N52 will thank you.
The R8 coils are cheaper then the standard Bosch coils so cheaper if nothing else.
I myself have tried Duralast brand coils on 3 different vehicles. They were all crap. Either they didnt last very long. Or were faulty right out of the box. I dont like to use the Duralast brand in general. Have had to many bad experiences.
