tested main fuel pump >good, has a new bosch in-tank fuel pump, new spark plugs, new bosch wires, air/fuel filter, new FAE fuel pump relay.
Replaced it with a Bosch and it hasn't stalled at all even when the tank is almost empty. It was the fuel pump all along, can't believe it lasted so long from the first signs of failure(over a year)!
I finally got the new, correct pump installed and the Rabbit lives again!
The Bosch 044 that I am running has a running pressure of over 72psi... over double what the Digi system requires, and I have had it installed for a little while (factory FPR) and no problems.
today i upgraded fuel pump to an intank Walbro 255LPH and tested with 100% e E85.. Its really strong now.. it would be really interesting to measure the WHP now... im a bit blind when it comes to hp... but the car really give you a ride i can tell you that.
Below are detailed instructions for the 4 steps needed for E85 conversion: installing a Walbro 255lph inline fuel pump
have the 1.8t 630cc Genises inject, walbro inline, and a 50 trim turbo.
I can't even hear my 044 but the Walbro my buddy has in his Evo is LOUD. Mine is wrapped in sound deadening material and that was enough to kill the whine.
oh its some fun getting the screw cap back on the tank. the problem is a stock pump the line sits horizontal and with the walbro it sits vertical. it requires some force and patience to get it in.
my 044 is horribly loud, changed the way I felt about my car (& I have a V1 w/ cogged belt no less). Mounting creatively will keep the hums/vibes down.
