If you find old stock New Bosch fuel pump the VDO OEM comes inside the Bosch packaging. It will say Made in Germany on box and the fuel pump assembly.
Buy a Walbro brand replacement pump for your truck and youll never buy another pump again.
I rebuilt the stock assembly with a Bosch pump from Rock Auto. It's been going strong over 100k miles. Also threw a new pressure regulator on top. Fixed my pressure issue of having to turn the key off and on several times before cranking to build up pressure.
I used a Wallbro, have had very good luck with it.
Bosch from Napa was the one for me.
I finally found a new Made in Germany Bosch fuel pump and no more issues.
I had this problem for well over a year, then my fuel pump died. Installed a Bosch because I felt the stalling problem, after lots of research, could be due to faulty pumps ..even new ones. The car didn't stall again under 1/4 tank for many months until all of a sudden, it did it again ..a few times.
I recently installed a Bosch 040 fuel pump (which is relayed). Now prior to when I start the car I have about 12.7v, once it starts It sits at around 11.9v because he alternator doesn't kick on.
The Bosch fuel pump I got was dead on arrival. Didn't work at all. Then went with Motorcraft and haven't had any issues.
I have a high flow Walbro unit that I regret installing because of the constant noise it makes. Unless you need to support super high HP numbers with a modded engine, go with an OEM fuel pump. I will just have to live with my loud pump because it is way too much work to drop that tank again!
