044's are awesome pumps, and rarely quit
044 can take A LOT of abuse. They are OEM spec
I reset the timing to 1.0mm left every else as is, and accually got the cold start lever hooked up properly with a spair part from another pump i had laying around
044's definitely do not suck, they're regarded to be very reliable probably more so then any other EFI pump on the market for many, many years now.
Recent service done with Bosch 044 fuel pump install.
Walbro 450lph E85 approved. It outflow 044 and is certified to run E85.
I have a Walbro intank pump, I replaced my oem when i though it was bad a few years ago.
when it was getting low, yes you can tell because it would misfire up high(just like my fuel cell). However there is absolutely nothing different on the casing, which holds the fuel level sending unit.
Learn from my mistakes. Although as shown on the link above that Bosch lists this pump as for the Mk4 R32... it is not correct. Some things you don't notice until you are halfway through the job.
I installed the Bosch pump and a new fuel filter. 50 miles later the Bosch pump died. I was not beating on the car. Just cruising down the street doing 30 or so and bam, no power. I was able to return it and get my money back.
