Engine radiator MISHIMOTO or Koyo

Koyo Engine radiator

Radiators aren\u2019t supposed to leak. I have the same Koyo radiator in my NA Z, just put it in this past summer. I def do not have that leak.

Cons: radiator shouldn't leak
Vehicle: Nissan

I like my Mishimoto one. But I have an Auto, and the only one they had for the Baja didn't have the cooler built in, so I had to run an external trans cooler. But it all went easy, even with that. Electric fans and catch tank bolted right up no problem

Pros: easy installation
Cons: external trans cooler needed
Vehicle: Subaru

I went with a Koyo radiator, which is considerably better built than the factory piece, cost less than $300 with new hoses, and took maybe 2 hours, start to finish. Of course, I replaced the coolant at the same time.

Pros: better built than factory
Vehicle: Honda S2000

MISHIMOTO Engine radiator

I ran one for 6 years half of which being turbo. The mounts are known to fail so you want to make your own or keep an eye on them. Both sides failed on mine but Mishimoto’s customer service is top tier and they sent me a brand new unit (whole radiator NIB even though only mounts failed) no questions asked. The drain plug is also known to snap if you over tighten it. Again, they sent me a brand new unit when that happened.

Pros: ran for 6 years, excellent customer service
Cons: mounts fail, drain plug snaps
Vehicle: Mazda

I went through 4 mishitis in 2.5 years DO NOT each replacement cost $45 for “shipping.” I lost money and time dealing with recycled beer can BS.

Cons: poor quality, expensive shipping, unreliable

I have one in my turbo VVT build. It’s big but seems inefficient, to the point that I suspect a properly designed crossflow radiator would shed much more heat by letting the coolant spend a proper amount of time in the radiator as opposed to this giant heat-sink top down tank. It’s on my list of things to replace.

Pros: big
Cons: seems inefficient, on list to replace
