I use 10W/60 Liqui-Moly with all my engines. I am old school and to a point, thicker is better.
Only vw507 that I can get in my area is motul or liquimoly. I get whichever is on sale.
I’ve been using top tech 4200 for years in my CKRA passat and swear by it. No issues at all currently at 175k miles
Used to go with Mobil 1 ESP for my Passat, but after discovering idParts.com, I now only run Liqui Moly as it was cheaper for me to buy an oil change kit on their website than it was to run to my auto parts store

I only use liqui moly toptec 4200 in my 12 Jetta tdi
The 5w30 or 0w30 is perfectly fine. Since I live in the US Midwest I’m going to start just running 0w30 liqui moly year round
5w40 if its drinking oil during vtec, I usually use Mobil but get whatever cheapest
I stay away from Mobil 1 and Castrol because although they are everywhere they are not as good as they euro synthetics. In Europe they are not even legally considered synthetics. When I drain mobil1 it looks black and the engine is missing a quart...
