Engine oil Mobil or Castrol
I use the 0w40 Mobil 1 European Formula. It\u2019s great and it\u2019s cheap and you can find it literally anywhere. I get mine for $22 for 5qt from Walmart.
As an aside, all the oil used to be Castrol and has now transitioned to a VW boxed product produced by Mobil 1. THAT is the correct oil.
I've switched to Castrol Magnatec 10W-40 which seem to do better wrt oil pressure.
Mobil 5w-40 has absolutely been quieter for me than the Castrol equivalent.
Try using 5w30 castrol from walmart black container with green writing, since switched been driving 2.7k with in 2-3 month oil on the same level
I'm at 80,300 miles, original owner and I just changed the oil, first time I tried Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 502.00 504.00 507.00 and the old R is idling quieter than ever, previously I was getting some slight timing chain noise but now its gone.
I'm running 5qt 5W40 full synthetic oil (Castrol Edge, to be specific). The oil is changed yearly cause I never get close to the 10k miles suggested by VW for an oil interval.
Used mobil-1 on my 2015 corolla for 156k miles zero issues. Have used Mobil-1 0w-20 on my 2018 Camry for 65k miles and this point I have had no metal deposits for the whole duration.
I have a couple of oil changes of the M1 0W30 ESP. It does meet the spec.
I was using Mobil 1 fully synth 5w40 on my old cab with no problem at all. good pressure at idle and at 2k. I used this oil in my new cab (same engine) and boom! No oil pressure at for the first 15 secs. Then it immediately jumped to 5 bars and finally settled down to 1 bat maybe less. However, I saw a dramatic increase in oil pressure even with the 5W40 mobil 1 when I switched to a 2L oil pump. Idle pressure was arround 2bars. Although I used it last summer and it worked just fine throught my vacations in Greece.
