I’m at 80k miles and only used mobil 1 ESP x2 0w-20, don’t wanna mess around with any other viscosity, I’m not smarter than VW engineers ????‍♂️

Pros: used for 80k miles
Mileage: 128747 km

Mobil 1 is my go-to... mostly because the level gauge on the side of the container is easier to read than any other brand. I've been using it in my 2018 since new and have never had an issue. Odometer is currently at 260,000.

Pros: easy to read, no issues
Mileage: 260000 km

My changes have generally been religious at 5k and that didn’t save my GTI from losing compression in cyl3 at 37k untuned miles it suffered 15% leakdown vs the other 3. That car got M1 0w-40, tried and true stuff, so you just never know.

Pros: tried and true stuff
Cons: didn’t save from losing compression
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 59546 km
Part number: 0W-40

I was running it in a VR6 engine, and couldn't believe how much extra chain and lifter noise there was. I put up with it for a couple weeks, thinking it might get better but it didn't, so I switched to Castrol Edge 5w-40 and noticed the difference immediately. Noise means wear, so I feel comfortable staying away from M1 for my VR6 engines.

Pros: switched to Castrol Edge
Cons: extra chain and lifter noise
